Afghanistan update
This Peter Bergen Op-Ed is well worth reading. Democracy is coming to Afghanistan, in fact it is coming much faster than I expected. I figured it would be at least 5 years, possibly as long as a decade before Afghanistan could become any sort of positive force for the region.

I'll be the first to admit that everything in Afghanistan is not perfect. It IS a lot better than it was, it IS going in the right direction and it IS moving faster than I expected.
Remember Afghanistan is a total quagmire and the graveyard of empires. Not this time.
oh i fully agree, but their is a darker side.
basically we ignore problems at our own peril, though i have high hopes for the nation.
