Belmont Club has an interesting post up about the latest forays of the Pentagon into the world of espionage. There is lots of interesting stuff, but this bit here is especially interesting:

FALCON, FORUM and SMINDS -- which are automatic translation systems enabling people of different languages to speak to each other simultaneously or interpet documents in foreign languages while in the field.

Sounds pretty cool. Of course those of us who are long time Star Trek fans know that the Universal Translator is key to any mission!
